Many people wonder how big their enclosure should be, and a lot of people assume they should get a critter trail at a pet smart. I am here to tell you don't get a critter trail, or any pet store enclosure. They are very dangerous for any rodent, and cause plenty of stress. They are way too small, the minimum size for a tank for gerbils is 360 sq inches, aka a 20 gallon long aquarium tank. You can find these at a local pet smart or petco. If you have a critter trail with gerbils, if there is any thing they can get their teeth under, they can start chewing on it and escape. These also have no room for 6 inches of bedding (the minimum for bedding height) and, since gerbils burrow a lot they would kick all of their bedding out of the enclosure.
